What To Expect When I Book A Sports Massage
We will have you complete a history form and consent form. We will discuss your treatment goals and determine your desired outcomes and do an assessment similar to a remedial massage.
Typically one of two things will happen, depending on when you schedule your visit.
Before an event expect a fast pace massage, friction can make the muscles warm to help with the prevention of damage to the tissues during high intensity use. Particularly Calves, Hamstrings and Quads.
Stretching and a focus on the area of the body that will be taking most of the action. The arms, legs or back for example.
As a cool down post treatment, we may focus on specific areas or on damage sustained during activity. Increase blood flow, stretching achy muscles and elbows on the trigger points for overworked muscles. Dry needling can be useful here during the massage. Deep pressure is applied slowly across the muscle fibres to completely relax contracted muscles and hidden adhesions. Leaving you with the feeling of having had a good rub all over.
